Bengaluru (TDI): At a Tata Electronics factory that produces parts for Apple (AAPL.O) and iPhones, a fire ignited on Saturday.
Daily Indian Times reports that Tamil Nadu state officials have said on Sunday that Indian authorities are planning to launch a forensic inquiry into what caused the fire.
Based on the statements of two people with direct knowledge of the situation, it is unclear that the factory, for which Sunday was a weekly holiday, will get permission from the government to start up again on Monday.
When asked for remarks outside of regular business hours, Tata Electronics and Apple did not respond. Previously, Tata Electronics had declared that it was looking into the reason and would take action to protect workers and other parties.

The incident is the most recent in a string of incidents that have impacted Apple suppliers in India, a country the American company views as a growing market and where it is expanding its supply chain outside of China.
According to a fire official, the chemical storage room of the plant in Hosur (a city) is where the fire ignited.
Fumes have “completely put out” and ended, according to K.M. Sarayu, a district administrative official. According to her, two hospitalized employees will probably discharged on Sunday.

“Now that a forensic team from Chennai, the state capital, has been sent, we may go in to investigate,” Sarayu stated.
Although one of the nearby buildings is expected to begin producing iPhones by year’s end, it was unclear if the incident impacted it.
