Kuala Lumpur, 4 August 2022 (TDI): Asia Pacific office of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is celebrating 10 years of the Asia Pacific Migration Network (APMN).

The Asia Pacific Migration Network (APMN) is a regional network comprising 17 Asia Pacific Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies created in 2012.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) both support the Network.
By mid-2021, 20 Asia Pacific National Societies had officially nominated a Migration focal point to join the APMN.
Aims and Activities
The APMN assists National Societies in building technical and operational capability in migration while contextualizing it with local expertise.
The APMN also serves as a local advocate. In addition, it acts as a collaboration channel for the IFRC and National Societies’ role and approach to migration.
The APMN talks, exchanges, and learns from the wide range of experiences, problems, and possibilities that migrant individuals and families confront daily. The Asia Pacific Migration Network is committed to working together to reach its maximum potential. It also aims to prevent and respond to the humanitarian concerns of the migrants.
The APMN wants to ensure that all migrants, regardless of their legal status, have access to necessary facilities. Through the delivery of humanitarian aid to save their lives.
It also maintains and promotes the preservation of migrants’ fundamental rights and encourages immediate action on climate-related migration and displacement.
The APMN intends to continue to foster cross-border dialogue on migration and displacement amongst sister national societies.
In addition, it urges to explore possibilities to promote national societies’ participation in national, regional, and global policy fora through the APMN Steering Group.
