Ramallah, 30 May 2024 (TDI): The State of Palestine hailed Mexico’s support to intervene in the genocide case against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on 29th May 2024. Mexico’s action demonstrates a relentless dedication to justice and international law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that Mexico’s support highlights the solidarity between the two countries. Additionally, Palestine expressed gratitude to Libya, the Republic of Colombia, and the Republic of Nicaragua for their assistance in this crucial case.
Furthermore, while hailing Mexico’s decision to intervene, Palestine implored all states to participate in the efforts to put a stop to the genocide. The Ministry additionally, urged the global community to challenge Israel’s blatant violation of international law and principles.
Mexico Enters ICJ Genocide Case
The Mexican government has formally entered a lawsuit at the ICJ to hold Israel responsible for the mass killings that have occurred and continue unabated in the Gaza Strip.
Today, the defenseless Palestinians in Gaza, especially in Rafah, are facing a grave humanitarian crisis. Such support highlights the urgent need for international involvement and justice against tyranny and genocide.
“The deliberate obstruction of access to humanitarian assistance and the destruction of cultural heritage” were highlighted as evidence of genocidal cases by the Mexican government.
South Africa Vs Israel
South Africa launched a case against Israel at the ICJ on 29th December 2023, accusing Israel of violating the 1948 Genocide Convention in the Gaza Strip. It specifically complained that Israel deliberately used military action against civilian lives and property.
Additionally, South Africa asserts that Israel’s closure of borders has worsened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Furthermore, Israel’s annexation and settlement have displaced thousands of Palestinians.
