IAEA Must Report the Damage Caused to Iran’s Nuclear Facilities: Russia

Moscow (TDI): Russia has made a strong condemnation of Israeli prolonged military attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, calling them illegal as per international law, and warned that these strikes are threatening the world, being a serious danger to global peace.

In a statement made available on Telegram, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that increasing attacks by Israel on what it termed Iran’s “peaceful nuclear facilities” risk taking the world to the brink of a nuclear catastrophe.

Moscow added that the dispute on Tehran’s nuclear program must be solved through diplomatic means and talks, not through unilateral military action.

The ministry further stated that the global response to the Israeli attacks expressed growing disapproval, claiming that Israel was backed by only “those states who are actually co-participants and act for opportunistic motives.”

Russia reaffirmed support for Iran’s stated compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and stressed Tehran’s commitment to restoring contact with the United States as a goodwill gesture.

“Iran’s clear-cut statements on its unchanged commitment to the commitments of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and its readiness to resume contacts with the United States in order to discuss possible solutions eliminate all doubts regarding Tehran’s nuclear program,” the statement read.

Moscow also added that the peaceful resolution could only be “reliably achieved through diplomacy and negotiations.”

It also asked the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to provide “as soon as possible a written report in detail with an objective and unvarnished assessment of damage” to the Iranian nuclear facilities.

Further, the Kremlin again on Monday claimed that Russia is still willing to act as a mediator between the two and that its earlier offer to store Iranian uranium in Russia is still on the table.
