New York,(TDI): Ambassador Barbara Woodward, UK Permanent Representative to the UN, commented that Humanitarian organizations must be allowed to deliver aid in Syria without obstruction at the UN Security Council meeting on Syria on Wednesday.
She further added that: Hundreds of thousands of Syrians, Lebanese, and Palestinians are currently seeking refuge in Syria, where, regrettably, they will encounter additional bloodshed.
In addition, she also said that Syria continues to be perilous for voluntary, safe, and dignified repatriations. Regrettably, escaping individuals are driven by desperation rather than the assurance of a secure residence.
She also emphasized that the United Kingdom implores Syrian authorities to safeguard the rights and safety of these displaced civilians.
Although the UNHCR’s enhanced monitoring capabilities at the border are commendable, the UN must be granted unrestricted access to sustain this surveillance nationwide.
Barbara also underscored that the humanitarian crisis in Syria has affected a record 16.7 million individuals in need and is poised to worsen due to diminishing resources.
She urged the International community to prevent the breakdown of key services. To address these requirements, a synchronized response throughout Syria, leveraging current humanitarian frameworks, is urgently required.
Barbara Woodward also stated that the UK has allocated nearly $3.8 million in programming and financing in response to the displacement situation in Syria.

She noted that humanitarian organizations must provide lifesaving aid without obstruction or limitation as demands escalate.
She further noted that the intensification throughout the region serves as a stark reminder of the severe toll residents endure due to persistent conflict and bloodshed.
Lastly, she commented that the resolution on Syria is unequivocal.
In addition, the United Kingdom reaffirms our appeal for the Assad regime and all factions involved in Syria’s conflict to participate substantively in the political process as stipulated in Resolution 2254.
