Samarkand, 16 September 2022 (TDI): The second day of the 2022 annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Council in Samarkand is today; 16 September.

Many events were witnessed on the sidelines on the first day of the SCO Summit 2022; many are expected today.

The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, arrived in Samarkand on 16 September. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, received him at the airport.

Several ministers, the governor of Samarkand, and government officials of the Republic of Uzbekistan were also present at the airport to welcome the Indian Prime Minister.

Narendra Modi will participate in the SCO Summit on 16 September and then hold bilateral meetings with Uzbekistan President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the sidelines of the event.

The Prime Minister of India will also meet Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi.

Vladimir Putin met Chinese President, Xi Jinping, on 15 September on the sideline of the SCO Summit 2022. It was their first in-person meeting since Russia invaded Ukraine, and Xi traveled abroad for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived in Samarkand on 15 September, held meetings with world leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran’s Ebrahim Raisi on the sideline of the SCO Summit 2022 in Samarkand.

The Republic of Uzbekistan and China also signed agreements worth a total of $15 billion in trade, investment, and financial and technical cooperation on 15 September on the sidelines of the SCO Summit 2022.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, also met with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, on 16 September on the sideline of the SCO Summit in Samarkand.

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, met with the Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan September 15.
