Hanoi, 30 July 2022 (TDI): Higher Education Space Roadmap 2025 is launched by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The roadmap and its implementation plan were launched officially at the 15th SHARE Policy Dialogue held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The two-day dialogue took place from 27 July to 28 July. The theme of this dialogue was “Envisioning the Future of a Common Higher Education Space in Southeast Asia.”
The roadmap is titled “Roadmap on the ASEAN Higher Education Space 2025 and its Implementation Plan”.
The ASEAN Secretariat, the SHARE Project of the European Union in ASEAN, and the ASEAN Working Group on Higher Education Mobility (AWGHEM) members have jointly launched this plan.
Objectives of the Roadmap
The ASEAN Higher Education 2025 Roadmap reinforces the 2025 ASEAN Community of ASEAN. Moreover, it supports the generation of new resiliency via greater individual participation and the availability and acceptance of higher education in the ASEAN countries.
Besides, the Roadmap envisions an ASEAN Higher Education Space that is robust and viable. Also, the roadmap aspires to improve the coherence and interconnectedness of the diverse higher education systems in the ASEAN region.

Notably, the Secretary-General of ASEAN Dato’ Lim Jock Hoi was there at the launch ceremony of the roadmap. Also, he communicated the vision of the ASEAN Secretariat about the higher education space.
Moreover, the Secretary-General stated, “The ASEAN Secretariat recognises the crucial importance of synergy and working together to ensure efficient use of resources and maximise the impact of our initiatives in the region. The Roadmap on the ASEAN Higher Education Space and its Implementation Plan is also our attempt to synergise our work, consolidate our efforts, and appreciate the valuable work that has been done by the ASEAN Member States and regional partners on implementing a common higher education in Southeast Asia.”
In conclusion, the launch of the roadmap and implementation plan are important steps toward the enhancement of the higher education space in the region.
Lastly, these steps will help modernize the education systems and the coherence and interconnectedness of the diverse higher education systems.
