WASHINGTON, (TDI): Vice President Kamala Harris has telephoned to former President Donald Trump for a brief conversation following an apparent second assassination attempt against him, according to local media reports.
A White House official stated that Harris expressed glad at Trump’s safety during their call, describing the conversation as cordial and succinct.
Harris later told reporters that she emphasized there is no place for political violence in the United States. She noted her candidacy is motivated by a commitment to democracy, which cannot tolerate such violence.
Trump and Harris shared the debate stage for the first time last week and were together again on Wednesday in New York City to mark the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks.

On Monday, Trump also spoke with President Joe Biden, who described their call as “very nice.” They discussed Secret Service protection during the conversation.
Earlier that day, Trump accused Harris and Biden of inciting violence against him, linking their rhetoric to the recent incident.
In response, President Biden stated that the Secret Service “needs more help” and called on Congress to address these needs.

The incident occurred while Trump was golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday when Secret Service agents spotted a person with an AK-style rifle near the course.
The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, was charged with two gun-related offenses after allegedly pushing the rifle’s muzzle through the fence.
An agent fired at Routh, who fled in a vehicle but was later apprehended while traveling from Palm Beach County into Martin County on Interstate 95.
