Doha (TDI): Qatar, one of the key mediators in efforts to halt the conflict in Gaza, said on Tuesday that a ceasefire proposal recently accepted by Hamas is “almost identical” to one earlier approved by Israel.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari told a press briefing in Doha that Hamas had delivered “a very positive response” to the draft agreement.
“It truly was almost identical to what the Israeli side had previously agreed to,” he said.
Al-Ansari cautioned, however, that Israel had yet to formally reply. “We hope for a swift and positive response,” he added.

Asked whether the current draft differed from proposals advanced by U.S. mediators, he declined to elaborate, citing the sensitivity of ongoing negotiations.
He described the current phase as “a very defining humanitarian moment,” warning that failure to secure a deal could deepen the crisis.

“If this proposal fails, the situation will deteriorate further. That is why Qatar, working with Egypt, the United States, and other international partners, is doing everything possible to achieve a ceasefire,” Al-Ansari said.
