Doha (TDI): Gulf countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE, have strongly condemned an Israeli map published on official social media accounts that asserts “historical territorial rights” over Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry called the map a “blatant violation of international resolutions” and cautioned that such provocations hinder peace efforts, particularly amid the current Gaza conflict.
The ministry urged the global community to pressure Israel into adhering to international law and abandoning its expansionist policies.
The UAE also criticised the map, terming it “a deliberate effort to expand the occupation” and a “flagrant contravention of international law.”

Officials emphasized the need to end practices that threaten peace and reiterated support for a two-state solution with an independent Palestinian state.
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry echoed the condemnation, accusing Israel of “solidifying its occupation” and violating state sovereignty.
The Kingdom called on international powers to address Israeli actions and support efforts to resolve regional crises through negotiations and respect for borders.

The Israeli map has sparked widespread criticism, with Jordan and Palestine joining Gulf countries in their denunciation.
The controversy stems from similar remarks by far-right Israeli leaders, like Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who in March 2023 stood next to a map showing a “greater Israel” that included parts of Jordan.
Israel’s prolonged occupation of Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian territories continues has sparked widespread global criticism, with calls for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state.
