Islamabad (TDI): The third round of negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is scheduled to take place today (Thursday) amid rising doubts and criticisms.
The much-anticipated meeting will be chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and begin at 11:30am at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
The PTI’s committee has received comprehensive instructions from Imran Khan, based on which their demands have been finalized, according to media reports.
The talks remain critical in addressing the current political instability and fostering mutual understanding between the two sides.

The much-awaited discussions are being held after months of heightened political tensions between the PTI and the government with two sides finally holding their inaugural round of discussions on December 27, 2024 followed by a second session on January 2, 2025.
The PTI, which has demanded the release of political prisoners and the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 riots and the November 26 protests, has set the January 31 time frame for the ongoing talks to reach a “logical conclusion”.

With PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar expressing hope for talks to conclude and bring good news, the party has warned that the ongoing parleys might collapse and a fourth round of negotiations was highly unlikely if a judicial commission was not formed after the third session.
Meanwhile, the government has maintained that it would consult its allies once PTI tables its written demands.
