Global Programming Conference 2022 held at Republic of Korea

Seoul, 13 September 2022 (TDI): The second Global Programming Conference (GPC) was held in Incheon today. This conference was arranged by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It will address the rising climate change and its solutions.

Global Programming Conference brought around 500 world leaders and influential personalities on the same platform for high-level dialogue. It will catalyze partnerships that will create impact and turn long-term climate planning into mitigation.

Furthermore, GPC provides a stage for GCF stakeholders to inform the strategy about their future endeavors. It will help the to share lessons from implementation and knowledge of GCF operational tools.

In the opening session, GCF Executive Director Yannick Glemarec addressed the conference’s theme; Catalyzing climate finance: The role of partnerships in moving from Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to co-investments.

While addressing the issue of increasing climate change and international efforts to counter it, the State Secretary of Climate Change and advisor to the President of Argentina, Cecilia Nicolini reassured Argentina’s support.

She said, “Streamlining access to funds and strengthening the adaptation agenda will be two important proposals of Argentina. And we will reiterate that position in the work agenda that awaits us.”

Further sessions will include the GCF journey in enabling climate ambition; How to deliver a paradigm shift? How can Readiness resources focus on the needs of countries to better climate investments? And the strategy for GCF-2.

The entire globe is suffering due to deteriorating environmental conditions and increasing climate change. Drought in Somalia floods in several countries including South Korea, and Pakistan, and heat waves are global concerns at the moment.

The first Global Programming Conference took place on the 19th of August 2019. And everyone is looking forward to immediate climate action in the wake of the second Global Programming Conference.
