Warsaw (TDI): A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Global Business Alliance (GBA), Pakistan and the Eastern Chamber of Commerce, Poland to facilitate cooperation, trade, investment, and economic integration between the two countries.
GBA is an Islamabad-based international trade facilitation and business diplomacy platform while Wschodnia Izba Gospodarcza (WIG), the Eastern Chamber of Commerce, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization representing the business community in eastern Poland.
Both sides acknowledged the substantial potential for mutual collaboration in trade facilitation, logistics coordination, business development, and private sector engagement to support the growth and competitiveness of their respective business communities.
By signing the MoU, they sealed their commitment to fostering long-term partnerships, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives that will contribute to sustainable economic development and regional connectivity.
The purpose of the MoU was to establish a framework for mutual cooperation and coordination so that GBA and WIG can facilitate connections between enterprises in Pakistan and Poland, particularly in Eastern Europe and South Asia.
Both sides agreed to cooperate in the following domains:
Trade and Investment Facilitation
- Promote bilateral trade and identify potential sectors for joint ventures and investment.
- Share market intelligence, investment opportunities, and sector-specific research.
Business Delegations and B2B Engagements
- Organize reciprocal trade missions, business delegations, and B2B meetings in Pakistan and Poland.
- Provide logistical and bureaucratic support to facilitate visits and engagements.
Exhibitions, Fairs, and Conferences
- Co-host or support international trade fairs, economic forums, and exhibitions in both countries.
- Encourage member companies to participate in flagship business events.
Policy Dialogue and Advisory
- Exchange views and insights on trade policy, regional integration, regulatory frameworks, and business climate.
- Advocate for reduced trade barriers and explore avenues for public-private engagement.
SME and Startup Support
- Connect small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups with cross-border opportunities.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, training, and access to regional incubators or accelerators.
Innovation and Green Economy
- Explore collaboration in emerging sectors such as green technologies, circular economy, ICT, renewable energy, and smart agriculture.
Both sides agreed to nominate a focal person to coordinate and oversee the implementation of the MoU. They also considered forming a Joint Working Committee to monitor progress, recommend activities, and assess outcomes. For open and regular communication, GBA and WIG agreed to hold meetings at least once a year.
