Islamabad, 06 August 2021 (TDI): On Tuesday, German Ambassador to Pakistan, Bernhard Schlagheck expressed that he felt proud of the cooperation with the Patrip Foundation on welfare projects in remote areas of Pakistan, especially in the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Pakistan Afghanistan Tajikistan Regional Integration Project (PATRIP) Foundation promotes integration and enhances cross-border cooperation between Afghanistan and its neighbor countries Pakistan and Tajikistan. PATRIP Foundation seeks to develop the area between three countries by completing social and economic development programs. Germany is one of the main donors with the German Federal Foreign Office allocating around 17 million EUR to the PATRIP Foundation.

Pakistan and Afghanistan share a long border, the overall length of which is around 2,640 km. The region between the border areas is quite devastating and is uninhabitable. With medium-scale social and economic projects the overall structure of the region can be changed especially in Balochistan. With the help of the PATRIP Foundation, the Zhob Trauma center has been completed and more are underway.

Furthermore, the German ambassador thanked KFW Group Corporate Communications of Germany and the German Foreign Office for lending funds for the completion of social and economic infrastructures projects necessary for the development of remote areas.
