Berlin, 24 August 2021 (TDI): German Minister of Foreign affairs Heiko Maas had a phone call with Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign affairs Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Monday. During the call, the German FM Heiko Maas thanked and praised the efforts of Qatar in providing safe passage to German and foreign nationals from Kabul to Germany.
Qatar also played a great role in the evacuation efforts. Minister Abdulrahman Al Thani in one of his statements also said that Qatar is trying its utmost to mediate relations between the US and the Taliban to ensure the passage of foreign nationals and Afghan refugees from Kabul to their respective countries.
Heiko Maas further stated that by providing transit services Qatar has proved a real leadership role in efforts to settle the disputes.
