G7 Urges Calm as Trump Exits Summit Early

Alberta (TDI): Leaders of the G7 nations issued a collective appeal on Monday for a reduction in hostilities across the Middle East, with particular focus on the intensifying confrontation between Iran and Israel.

The call for de-escalation came as US President Donald Trump unexpectedly left the summit in Canada ahead of schedule, citing the growing crisis.

The leaders of the club of industrial democracies, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the US expressed a firm stance on Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “Iran must never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon,” the statement read, a sentiment echoed repeatedly by Trump in recent days.

Shortly before his early departure was confirmed, Trump told reporters, “As soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something,” without elaborating on potential military or diplomatic steps.

While the White House has insisted that US forces remain in a defensive posture and denied involvement in initial strikes on Iran, Trump has stopped short of ruling out future military action.

Tensions soared following his recent public warning urging civilians in Tehran to flee the capital, citing an imminent threat.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump posted: “Iran should have signed the deal I offered. This is a senseless tragedy. I’ve said it many times, IRAN CANNOT OBTAIN A NUCLEAR WEAPON. Everyone in Tehran should evacuate immediately.”

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated his opposition to military solutions that aim to topple governments from the outside.
