France, Pakistan Agree to Collaborate on Global Peace

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and France have agreed on framework for bilateral cooperation and dialogue while reaffirming their commitment to work together for international peace and security.

The commitment was expressed during Pakistan and France productive consultations on UN Security Council matters held in Islamabad.

The consultations were co-chaired by Director for UN Affairs of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Le Fraper du Hellen and Additional Foreign Secretary, UN & OIC Ambassador Syed Haider Shah.

As members of the UN Security Council, Pakistan and France will constructively engage with each other in strengthening multilateralism and addressing global challenges, Radio Pakistan reported.

Pakistan and France have recently vowed to enhance bilateral ties and cooperation in various fields.

Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and French President Emmanuel Macron had a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Besides exchange of views on enhancement of bilateral relations, the two leaders had agreed on mobilizing international support for Pakistan to help recover and rebuild its economy on a sustainable footing in the aftermath of the recent devastating floods in Pakistan related to climate change.

France, Pakistan and Leadership

In December, leaders of the two countries agreed to enhance cooperation through business-to-business contacts in the areas of agriculture, livestock, Information Technology, skills development and clean drinking water.

The understanding to this effect reached at a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the One Water Summit in Riyadh, held recently.

The two leaders had exchanged views on the full spectrum of Pakistan-France relationship, including political, economic, trade and investment, as well as cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations.
