Paris, 10 July 2023 (TDI): French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna expressed her full support for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) mediation efforts in Sudan during a telephone conversation with her Kenyan counterpart Alfred Mutua.
The statement underscores France’s commitment to facilitating a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
The situation in Sudan remains a matter of concern for the international community, and France recognizes the importance of concerted efforts to achieve stability and sustainable peace.

In addition to expressing support for the IGAD mediation efforts, Minister Colonna highlighted collaborative efforts to fulfill the commitments of the New Global Financing Pact.
The New Global Financing Pact aims to enhance financial support for developing countries, particularly in Africa, to foster sustainable development and address pressing challenges such as poverty, infrastructure development, and climate change.
France and Alfred Mutua, representing an African perspective, are working together to ensure the successful implementation of the New Global Financing Pact.
Furthermore, Minister Colonna mentioned preparations for the Africa Climate Summit scheduled to take place in Nairobi in September.
Climate change poses a significant threat to the African continent, and the summit provides a crucial platform to address climate-related challenges and promote sustainable practices in Africa.
