Dhaka, 25 July 2022 (TDI): Bangladesh and Kenya held the first-ever Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) on Sunday. The consultation was conducted at Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
A ten-member delegation led by the Additional Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Moi Lemoshira, joined the Foreign Office Consultation.
The delegation comprised the High Commissioner of Kenya in New Delhi and other Kenyan government officials.
Secretary (East) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bangladesh, Ambassador Mashfee Binte Shams, presided over the consultation.

Remarks by Kenyan Ambassador
During the meeting, Moi Lemoshira stated that the consultation is significant for identifying new areas of collaboration and strengthening current ties.
He underscored that, in addition, to strengthening diplomatic ties, there is a growing need to enhance economic and commercial relations.
Both parties agreed to advance collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, particularly contract farming and information technology (IT) exchanges.
Furthermore, they pledged to increase cooperation in areas such as education, youth cooperation, air connectivity, blue economy, investment authority cooperation, and food security.
Remarks by Bangladesh Ambassador
Ambassador Mashfee Binte Shams informed the delegation of Bangladesh’s extraordinary socioeconomic achievements during the past few years.

She proposed possible knowledge and training exchanges in agribusiness, IT, women’s empowerment, and UN peacekeeping. She also emphasized the significance of trade delegation exchanges.
The Kenyan delegation showed interest in initiating collaboration between the two nations’ Foreign Service Academies. Moi Lemoshira emphasized the importance of creating economic relations and finalizing a trade deal.
Both parties pledged to continue collaboration on bilateral and international forums such as the United Nations, the Commonwealth, and IORA.
The Kenyan delegation will also have meetings with other government agencies and apex chambers. The group will also visit export processing zones and manufacturing businesses in Bangladesh.
Signing of MOU
Two Memorandums of Understanding on Bilateral Political Consultations and Cooperation were signed.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh. Kenyan Ambassador Moi Lemoshira represented Keynan Foreign Ministry.
