Phnom Penh, 4 August 2022 (TDI): State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi had a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias in Phnom Penh on August 3, 2022.

In the meeting, China and Greece committed to advancing their mutually beneficial collaboration and working together to improve their bilateral relations for the next 50 years.

China is willing to increase its partnership with Greece in the areas of energy, transportation, energy, green economy, and sharing development possibilities.

Wang Yi shared that China will invest in Greece and hopes that Greece will also provide a friendly environment for Chinese business there.

 China and Greece to Strengthen Bilateral relations

Diplomatic relations between China and Greece have grown in the past 50 years. Foreign Minister Wang said that both China and Greece should continue and solidify the development of their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Both states will contribute to the creation of a community with a shared future for humanity as friends.

He said, “he hoped the two countries will continue to promote strategic mutual trust, support each other’s legitimate demands and consolidate the political foundation for the development of bilateral ties to work for better bilateral relations for the next 50 years.”

Wang Yi further emphasized that China and Greece support preserving the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter.

They will maintain the international order based on international law and implement real multilateralism. Both states will also contribute to the strength of the peace and development of the world.

China appreciated Greece’s neutrality and goodwill toward China’s rise and its commitment to preserving international justice. China also expected that Greece will continue to contribute positively to the development of stable China-European relations.

While the Greek Foreign Minister also said that both the states have a comprehensive strategic partnership because of mutual respect and understanding.

Greece promotes China’s significant influence in world affairs and praises China’s contribution to the emergence of the global economy and human civilization.

Greece also acknowledged the huge opportunity brought by China’s development and values China’s faithful support during its difficult times.

Greece is willing to continue to strengthen mutually beneficial collaboration with China. Greece will also increase exports to China, welcomes investment by Chinese firms, and strengthen China-EU relations.
