New York, 24 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, met Foreign Minister of Indonesia, Retno Marusdi. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The meeting marked the discussion of bilateral relations and the situation in Afghanistan. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated that continued engagement of the international community is necessary for averting a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. It is also crucial for the establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Moreover, Foreign Minister Qureshi apprised his Indonesian counterpart about the gross human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). He said that the maneuvers of Indian security forces are in direct violation of International Human Rights Law; including the 4th Geneva Convention. Foreign Minister Qureshi also presented a dossier to his Indonesian counterpart documenting the scathing condition of human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Furthermore, both leaders exchanged views on the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). They discussed its prospects in meeting its objectives on various global and regional issues.
The two foreign ministers pledged to strengthen the bilateral relationship in all domains. They agreed to collaborate to combat effectively global and regional challenges.
