Tirana, 7 September 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, Wopke Hoekstra met his Albanian counterpart, Olta Xhaçka on his visit to the Republic of Albania on Wednesday.

The Foreign Minister of the Netherlands took to his Twitter to express his joy over this meeting.
During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers discussed the Russian aggression in Ukraine. Along with that, they discussed their cooperation in the fields of policing and justice.
Foreign Minister Hoekstra also supported and encouraged Albania’s succession towards EU accession.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands also expressed concerns about recent cyber activity in Albania. In his tweet, he stated that,
“We condemn such activities & stand in solidarity with Albania. We are ready to work with our NATO and EU partners to protect, defend, deter and respond to the growing threat of malicious cyber activity.”
Visit to North Macedonia
Following his visit to meet the Foreign Minister of Albania, Wopke Hoekstra will be traveling to the Republic of North Macedonia, on the same day.
There he will meet the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani. Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra will discuss the Russian aggression against Ukraine with his Macedonian counterpart.
The officials will also discuss bilateral ties between the states, regional developments, and the EU perspective of North Macedonia.
Netherlands Albania Bilateral Ties
The diplomatic bilateral ties between the Republic of Albania and the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Netherlands) were established on November 17, 1970.
Albania and the Kingdom of the Netherlands enjoy very good relations. The Kingdom of the Netherlands is present in Albania through various assistance and programs.
These include programs like the MRLT Training Program funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The Netherlands has also welcomed the reforms taken by Albania to advance the EU integration process.
Apart from that, economic and trade cooperation between the states has been growing year on year.
