Remarks of Moulavi khan Motaghi
The Afghan foreign minister, Amir Khan Motaghi underlined that the rights of every member of the Afghan community have been respected.
In this regard, transparency has been ensured in all areas. He claimed the sentimental of professional cadres and the negative propaganda in the country.
This was caused by the treatment of the old administration’s workers. However, this has led to many expatriates going back to their own countries.
Furthermore, Motaghi noted that security in Afghanistan is greater than it has ever been. There is peace and people are not detained because they oppose the regime.
Jails are much emptier than they were forty years ago, as alluded to by the foreign minister.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees praised the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA). They emphasized communication among themselves and urged the continuation of similar gatherings in the future.
A few months earlier, Moulavi Amir Khan Motaghi the Taliban’s acting foreign minister, also had a meeting with Tomas Niklasson, the EU’s special representative for Afghanistan.
During the meeting, Niklasson stated that the EU has determined that there has been very little progress made on the five benchmarks.
There were plans for greater engagement with the Taliban, and for this reason, the EU does not take any action beyond discussion and humanitarian aid.
The EU has stated that before it resumes providing regular development aid, five criteria must be satisfied.
These include upholding human rights, safeguarding press freedom, and preventing Afghanistan from once more serving as a haven for terrorism.
