Foreign Minister Dar holds talks with Kazakh President

Astana, 21 May 2024 (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar meets with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Both leaders meet today at the Presidential palace ‘Akorda’, as part of the SCO Foreign Ministers’ Audience.

Ishaq Dar reached Astana Kazakhstan today to attend the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting from May 20-21.

Kazakh counterpart Murat Abugaliuly Nurtleu invited Ishaq Dar to Kazakhstan. The foreign minister will also attend meetings on the sidelines of the SCO meeting.

Moreover, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar conveyed heartfelt greetings and warm wishes from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Kazakhstan’s President.

Dar also reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to further accelerate cooperation with Kazakhstan in all domains.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar appreciated the role of the leadership of both states in strengthening the mutually beneficial bilateral relationship cooperation in multilateral fora.

Dar highly appreciated the way Kazakhstan Presides the SCO summit. Dar reassured Pakistan’s support for the success of the Kazakh Summit expected to be held in July in Astana.

Foreign Minister Dar meets Tajik counterpart

The foreign minister met with Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Astana.

Furthermore, both ministers reassured their commitment to enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation. Both leaders talked about continuing high-level dialogue.

However, they emphasized the importance of early implementation of the CASA-1000 project and other connectivity and regional integration initiatives for the mutual benefit of both states and the broader region.

Earlier, Foreign Minister of Turkiye Hakan Fidan arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan on May 19.

Foreign Minister Fidan called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and held detailed discussions with Dar, a Foreign Office statement said.

The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and assessed preparations for upcoming high-level talks between the two countries.
