FM Serbia, Turkey hold joint press conference

Belgrade, 01 September 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Serbia Nikola Selakovic welcomed his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Belgrade.

The matter under discussion during this meeting was the undergoing developments in Afghanistan after the Taliban took control of the country. Furthermore, relations with the USA and Russia were evaluated. FM Turkey said that bilateral ties between Turkey and Serbia have reached the highest level in history. He added that peace and stability in the Balkan region are highly significant and good relations between both countries are contributing to regional peace and prosperity.

During this press conference, they highlighted the fact that this year bilateral trade may soon reach the level of 2 billion euros and in addition, also announced the opening of a Turkish consulate general in Novi Pozar. Moreover, they also expressed high hopes that President Tayyab Erdogan may visit Serbia this year. Regional issues were also discussed during their meeting.
