Foreign Minister of Afghanistan met newly appointed German Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan

Kabul: 26 July 2021 (TDI): Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, met this afternoon with Ambassador Jasperwick, Germany’s new Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Secretary of State welcomed Mr. Wick and praised Germany’s cooperation with Afghanistan over the last two decades, as well as its assistance and support for the country’s security and defense forces. He also highlighted the importance of global and regional convergence in support of peace and cooperation. After the withdrawal of strong support forces from the country, Kabul and Berlin spoke.

Mr. Atmar emphasized the significance of continuing German support for Afghanistan and the peace efforts, claiming that the escalation of violence, human rights violations, and the group’s inability to live up to its commitments to cut ties with terrorist groups had resulted in the spread of extremism and the presence of international terrorist groups. ISIS has taken over Afghanistan and the surrounding region.

Mr. Wake also expressed his concern about the Taliban’s outbreak of violence and guaranteed the Foreign Minister of his country’s ongoing cooperation and support for the political settlement and the maintenance of Afghanistan’s achievements over the last two decades.
