Xi’an (TDI): The first tourist train departed from the railway station of Xi’an in China on the Xi’an – Almaty, today.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Kazakh delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), Anuar Akhmetzhanov, as well as representatives from the Chinese side, local authorities, and tourism and transport organizations.
“The project is aimed at developing diplomatic relations, expanding cultural dialogue and promoting tourism between our countries. We are confident that this trip will give guests from China vivid impressions and serve as a basis for new joint initiatives,” said Anuar Akhmetzhanov.
The train will pass through the city of Urumqi, cross the international border crossing of Khorgos, where the wheelsets will be changed and continue through the Altynkol station in the direction of Almaty.
The train consists of 9 carriages equipped for comfortable travel of the tour participants. The first tourist group included 246 people, including business representatives, scientists, actors and athletes.
Over the course of five days, guests from China will get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of the southern capital of Kazakhstan, visit iconic sights, and also take part in cultural and business events organized by the host party.
