Beijing, 29 August 2022 (TDI): China Global Television Network (CGTN) has launched the 2022 China Documentary Festival Global Exhibition in Africa, the first-ever event of its kind held for a specific region.

The Documentary Festival Global Exhibition is jointly organised by the China Media Group and China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The stories of the festival will be screened by thirty broadcasters and institutions in 20 African countries.

Furthermore, the Ambassador to China from Benin, Simon Adovelande, from Cameroon, Matin Mpana, from Gabon, Baudelaire Ndong Ella and from Senegal, Ibrahima Sory Sylla, attended the official launch of the documentary.

Additionally, the Ambassador to China from Tanzania, Mbelwa Kairuki and the Ambassador from Zimbabwe, Martin Chedondo were also in attendance at the launch.

China Documentary Festival

The China Documentary Festival was launched in June 2022. Since then, more than 50 documentaries and featured films produced by CGTN have been launched and screened worldwide. Moreover, these include award-winning productions in English, French, Arabian, Spanish and Russian.

The documentaries and featured films were showcased to the audience across hundreds of media platforms. Since June 2022, documentaries have been launched in countries including Algeria, Egypt, Morroco, Mauratia, Sudan, Tunisia, Nigeria, Equitorial Guniea, Chad, Cameroon, and Burkina Faso, amongst the other 50 countries.

Through the selection of documentaries, unknown areas of Chinese culture have been showcased to viewers all around the world. Furthermore, these documentaries and featured films aim to promote Chinese cultural cooperation and dialogue.
