Islamabad (TDI): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, at the Finance Division on Monday.
Their discussion centered on progress made following previous consultations and meetings, which involved high-level engagements with leading financial institutions, investment banks, government officials, bilateral partners, and think tanks.
Ambassador Akram underscored Pakistan’s active advocacy for climate justice and enhanced climate finance, particularly for developing countries facing the brunt of climate change impacts.
He outlined Pakistan’s call for the early operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund, which aims to address the financial burdens of climate-induced damage in vulnerable nations.
Ambassador Akram further emphasized the importance of implementing the UN Secretary-General’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Stimulus proposal, which Pakistan hopes to advance through an inter-governmental process at the United Nations.
