Guayaquil, 30 March 2022 (TDI): The National Football teams of Argentina and Ecuador fought to a draw in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifier match held on Tuesday.
The teams tied the match at 1 goal each. The two South American National Teams qualify directly for the World Cup. They will await their opponents in the draw.
This was the 18th and the final matchday in the CONMEBOL Qualifiers. Other South American teams also battled in exciting matches on the same day.
These matches include Peru vs. Paraguay, Brazil vs. Bolivia, Chile vs. Uruguay, and Venezuela vs. Colombia. Peru won against Paraguay by two goals.
However, both teams have not been able to qualify for the World Cup. Similarly, Colombia won by 1 goal against Venezuela, but both teams were knocked out of qualification.
In Chile vs. Uruguay, the qualifying team (Uruguay) beat Chile by 2 goals. Brazil, by far, achieved the highest number of goals in the last match of the qualifiers. They beat Bolivia by 4-0.
South American Teams in FIFA World Cup 2022
The CONMEBOL Qualifiers feature matches between South American teams to qualify for the World Cup. CONMEBOL held the first round of the Qualifier on 8 October 2020. These matches were often delayed or postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic,
Four teams from the region have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2022. Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay have reached the World Cup. Qatar will host this year’s Football Championship.
Brazil came first with 14 wins and 45 points on the table. Followed by Argentina, one of the strongest football teams, with 39. Argentina is now back at 1st place in FIFA’s ranking. Uruguay and Ecuador follow with 28 and 26 points respectively.
