Washington (TDI): During a two-day visit to Washington, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan received the American Coalition for Syria at the Turkish Embassy.
Syria’s situation and cooperation with the new government have been one of the main agenda points of the FM’s visit and his meeting with the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
Turkiye, being a neighbor to Syria and an influential country in the region, plays an important role in streamlining international engagement with Syria.
The meeting with the American Coalition for Syria was held within the same context; to discuss how the coming months for Syria will look like and how the Coalition can play its role.

Being hailed as an important visit, reports suggest that defense cooperation will return back on track between the two countries, after it was derailed during the Biden administration.
The US also imposed sanctions on Turkiye, citing its close relationship with Russia, under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).
A visit which follows a direct phone call between US President Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is being eyed for important developments.
In addition to defense diplomacy, Syria, Gaza, and NATO remained the focus of talks between the two Foreign Ministers.
