Lahore, 25 August 2024 (TDI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced the women cricket team’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, with a surprising change in leadership.
Just before the mega tournament, which will run from 3 to 20 October in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the cricket board relieved senior all-rounder Nida Dar of leadership responsibility, replacing her with Fatima Sana.
According to a PCB statement, the selection committee made this decision during a meeting called for team selection.
Fatima, who has previously led Pakistan’s side in two ODIs, including the famous Super Over win against New Zealand, replaces Nida, a veteran of 112 ODIs and 153 T20Is.
Despite losing the captaincy, Nida will remain in the squad as an all-rounder. Overall, Pakistan have named a settled squad for the marquee tournament with only one change in the team that played the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
