Middle East on Edge: Explosions Heard Over Jerusalem Amid Iran’s Retaliation

Middle East, Jerusalem, Iran, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Tehran (TDI): Multiple blasts were reported over Jerusalem following a wave of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The attacks are described as retaliation for airstrikes carried out by Israel and the United States against Iranian targets early Saturday.

The Israeli military confirmed that multiple missile barrages had been launched from Iran and urged residents to remain in protected spaces. “An additional barrage of missiles was launched towards the State of Israel. The public is requested to continue following instructions from the Home Front Command,” a statement said.

Beyond Israel, residents in Abu Dhabi reported hearing loud explosions. The city hosts a base with US personnel. The UAE authorities had earlier announced the temporary, partial closure of airspace as a precautionary measure. Explosions were also reported in Kuwait, with sirens activated amid heightened tensions.

Israel and US Strikes on Iran

The Israeli military stated that its airstrikes on Iran, carried out in coordination with the US military, targeted dozens of Iranian military sites after months of joint planning. “The strike targeted dozens of military targets and was carried out as part of a broad, coordinated, and joint operation against the regime,” the military said.

Warplanes and missiles have reportedly crossed Iraqi airspace during the strikes. Earlier, Iraq had closed its airspace. Local residents in Dokan and Sulaimaniyah reported seeing multiple missiles heading toward the Iranian border.

Sirens also sounded in Amman after the strikes. The Public Security Directorate in the Jordanian capital advised residents to take shelter upon hearing three intermittent sirens, which indicate an active threat, and to remain in place until the all-clear signal.
