Moscow (TDI): Executive Director of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) and Secretary‑General of the Pakistan‑SCO Friendship Forum, Muhammad Asif Noor, participated in the iconic First World Public Assembly in Moscow.
The event, held on September 20‑21 under the theme “New World of Conscious Unity,” sought to reimagine global cooperation through a multipolar, values‑driven, and humanitarian modernization approach.
The Assembly, organized by the World Peoples Assembly (formerly the Eurasian Peoples Assembly), gathered thousands of civil society representatives, diplomats, public intellectuals, religious leaders, youth voices and business stakeholders from more than 150 countries.
Delegates convened under the banner of public diplomacy, humanitarian cooperation, and shared responsibility for the planet, coming together from countries of Asia, Africa, Eurasia, Latin America, former Soviet Republics, and Europe.
One of the key events at the forum was the panel session entitled “Community of Shared Future,” where the Executive Director of IPDS was one of the speakers, alongside six others.
Moderated by Sergey Sanakoev – Deputy Chairman of the Russian‑Chinese Friendship Society, the panel featured Dmitry Novikov – First Deputy Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Zhou Lijun and Cui Shan from China, Kassem Tofailli from Lebanon, Joy Katunge Matheka from Kenya, and David Kartvelishvili from Georgia.
In his speech, Asif Noor emphasized the need for concrete mechanisms beyond ceremonial rhetoric. He also touched on the importance of empowering countries of the Global South and Global East to assert their views in shaping a fairer international order.
The World Public Assembly also featured a wide array of thematic platforms; over 40 discussion tracks spanning culture, education, science, religion, business, and social responsibility.
The presence of Asif Noor marks one of the most visible contributions from Pakistan in a forum that aspires to shape the moral, cultural, and strategic foundations of a shifting world order.
