Islamabad, 25 November 2021 (TDI): As a public diplomacy initiative, Diplomatic Insight Group organized the 4th Global Ambassadors Award Ceremony to acknowledge the services of Ambassadors and diplomats, heads of international organizations, businessmen for the promotion of people to people contact, business, trade, and constructive bilateral relations with their respective states and missions.
As a result of outstanding contribution towards building Pakistan’s strong partnership with the EU, on behalf of the people of Pakistan, Diplomatic Insight Group conferred an award to Androulla Kaminara, Ambassador of EU to Pakistan. This was a humble tribute to her contributions for EU-Pakistan relations
Androulla Kaminara -An experienced and well-decorated European Union official with a career of over two decades in the European Commission and the European External Action Service. Currently, she is serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan since 2019.
Born and raised in Cyprus, having Greek and British nationalities, Ambassador Kaminara has served at various important positions within the EU. For instance, as Directorate Generals of the European Commission deal with technology, communications, development cooperation, international relations, humanitarian aid. With such a background, Androulla Kaminara’s presence in Pakistan is priceless.
Her work in Pakistan for the promotion of Business and trade, interfaith harmony, development cooperation, and unending support for Solutions Strategy for Afghan Refugees (SSAR) is unmatched.
Since 2019, Androulla Kaminara has worked to support SMEs in Pakistan for extending export to the European Nation in IT, gems and jewelry, surgical goods, auto-parts, among others. From The EU-Pakistan Business Forum to development cooperation, H.E. Androulla Kaminara left no stone unturned to promote business in Pakistan.
In 2020, in collaboration with the Grand Imam of Badshahi Mosque, H.E. Androulla Kaminara hosted a series of interfaith roundtables, bringing together different religious leaders and human rights activists for peace and development.
Since 2019, under the leadership of H.E. Androulla Kaminara, the cooperation of the Government of Pakistan with the EU has touched new skies.
From Close cooperation with Secretary EAD since 2019 to five Financing Agreements in 2020/2021, worth EUR 141Million, and to constructive consultation for bilateral EU-Pakistan cooperation 2021-2027, everything went smoothly between the two partners. In addition, during Covid-19, the EU directed EUR 150 Million (PKR 26 Billion) towards the short- and medium-term response to the emerging health crisis in Pakistan.
Ambassador Androulla Kaminara, is the Chair of the Pakistan chapter of the Core Group SSAR. She is spearheading policies and dialogues for resilience-building measures for Afghan Refugees in Pakistan. Kaminara is converging Core Group members to coordinate and support the efforts of Pakistan for hosting Afghan refugees for the last four decades.
