Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas, who conveyed condolences over the tragic loss of lives caused by recent floods in Pakistan.
Kallas expressed solidarity with the victims and their families and reaffirmed the European Union’s support for Pakistan’s relief and recovery efforts.
Dar thanked the EU for its expression of sympathy and assistance, stressing that Pakistan remains among the countries most severely affected by the global climate crisis.
Both sides noted the positive momentum in Pakistan-EU relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly climate action, resilience building, and sustainable recovery.

In recent years, Pakistan and the European Union have strengthened collaboration on issues ranging from trade and investment to renewable energy and sustainable development.
The EU has also been a key partner under the GSP+ trade scheme, which provides preferential access for Pakistani goods to European markets.

The ongoing dialogue on climate action reflects the EU’s recognition of Pakistan’s acute vulnerability to extreme weather events, as devastating floods and erratic rainfall continue to threaten livelihoods across the country.
