Ethiopia’s Envoy Receives Best Ambassador Award from University of Sialkot

Sialkot (TDI): Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker, has been honored with the prestigious Best Ambassador Award by the University of Sialkot in recognition of his outstanding diplomatic efforts and contributions to strengthening bilateral relations.

This award marks his fifth official recognition in Pakistan, reflecting the ambassador’s instrumental role in enhancing bilateral relations, trade cooperation, and people-to-people linkages between the two nations.

The award ceremony, held at the University of Sialkot, celebrated Ambassador Beker’s proactive diplomacy, visionary leadership, and consistent efforts to promote mutual understanding and collaboration across multiple sectors, including education, trade, culture, and sustainable development.

The award was presented by M Khaleeq ur Rehman, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sialkot, along with Faisal Manzoor, Chairman of the University.

The award ceremony was part of a special event dedicated to the promotion of Ethiopia’s flagship environmental campaign — the Green Legacy Initiative, launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali.

As a symbolic gesture of fraternity and environmental cooperation, Sialkot University planted fruit trees on its campus under the banner of the Ethio-Pakistan Fraternity Green Legacy Campaign.

The tree-planting activity was followed by the Green Legacy Forum, which was chaired by Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker himself.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of both nations toward climate resilience and sustainability.

Speaking at the event, university officials commended Dr. Beker for transforming diplomatic relations into meaningful partnerships that benefit both Ethiopia and Pakistan, particularly in areas of business, academic exchange, and green economy advocacy.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker also received high praise for his active support of climate resilience initiatives and for promoting Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Campaign — an environmental sustainability effort that resonates with global climate goals and offers valuable lessons to countries like Pakistan.
