He conducted tree plantation drives and cleanliness operations, especially on Trail 5, a popular trek in the park. These activities are connected to Ethiopia’s “Green Legacy Initiative,” which Dr. Beker has been actively advocating in Ethiopia and abroad.
“Such recognition is a reflection of our combined commitment to environmental sustainability and is a testament to the growing cooperation between Ethiopia and Pakistan,” Dr. Beker said at the ceremony.
During the ceremony, both sides discussed the possibilities of joint ventures to enhance Islamabad’s urban green cover and smart city initiative. Both sides showed interest in technical exchanges, intending to exchange experience on sustainable urbanization and environmental conservation.
Dr. Beker’s green policies are aligned with the strategy to enhance bilateral relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia in a fruitful way. Apart from this, he has also introduced the idea of a sister-city agreement between Islamabad and Addis Ababa to facilitate more cultural and economic interaction.
