Karachi (TDI): A senior Ethiopian delegation comprising government representatives and climate experts arrived in Pakistan on Friday to formally launch the “Plant Fraternity” initiative across several cities.
The delegation was received at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport by Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, and the Honorary Consul in Karachi, Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, along with officials from Ethiopian Airlines and Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During their stay, the delegation will travel to Islamabad and Lahore to participate in the “Ethio-Pakistan Green Dialogues” and join large-scale tree plantation activities.

The program is being coordinated by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad as part of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s Green Legacy Initiative.
Welcoming the visitors, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker described the initiative as a milestone in strengthening bilateral ties through environmental cooperation.

“This visit is a clear sign of the deepening relationship between Ethiopia and Pakistan,” he said, adding that it demonstrates Pakistan is not standing alone in the fight against climate change.
He further reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to advancing bilateral and multilateral collaboration with Pakistan in areas linked to sustainability and climate resilience.
