Diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan were established in the 1950s, but this alliance has grown stronger in recent years.
The opening of Ethiopia’s resident mission in Islamabad in 2022 and the initiation of direct flights from Addis Ababa to Karachi are milestone events towards increased connectivity and economic integration. Both countries regard each other as strategic partners in their respective regions.
With a growing convergence on giving highest priority to international development and with a commendable vision for South-South cooperation, Ethiopia and Pakistan are now better positioned to take the lead.
