Washington DC, 25 March 2023 (TDI): The Vice President of the United States (US), Kamala Harris had the distinct honor of swearing in Eric Garcetti as the new Ambassador to India.

Eric Garcetti, a dedicated public servant and former Mayor of Los Angeles, has been chosen to strengthen the US partnership with India.

In her statement, Vice President Harris praised the appointment of Garcetti as the next Ambassador to India. She noted that the US and India share a long-standing relationship based on shared values and mutual interests.

Moreover, Harris expressed her confidence in Ambassador Garcetti’s ability to build upon this partnership and work towards further strengthening ties between the two countries.

Responsibilities of the new Ambassador to India

For the information, he was nominated for the post by the US President in 2021. But his appointment was held up after allegations that he had overlooked accusations of sexual harassment against an aide when he was mayor.
