Erdagon Inaugurates Turkish House in New York

New York, 21 September 2021 (TDI): The Turkish House opened in New York at the heart of multilateral diplomacy, United Nations, on 20 September 2021.

The Building was bought from IBM in 1977. It will serve as Ankara’s Permanent Mission to the UN and Consulate General in New York. It is designed as a symbolic skyscraper with traditional Turkish motifs from the Seljuk Empire of a millennium ago and has the shape of a Tulip.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan cut the ribbon on the landmark Turkevi Center. Erdogan stated that this center will reflect Turkey’s strengthened place on the world stage as he called the landmark building a masterpiece.

Erdogan expressed his gratitude to the assistants and the Foreign Minister Mevlüt ÇavuÅŸoÄŸlu for their presence at the inaugural ceremony. He added that the Turkevi Center symbolizes Turkey’s faith in the United Nations, multilateralism, justice, and peace. The Turkish Center Building will also serve as a symbol of Turkey’s diplomatic success.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentions that the Turkish House is the symbol of the Turkish 500-year-old diplomacy legacy. The 500-year-old diplomacy legacy of Turkey blends continuity and change by its initiative while drawing strength from traditions. They also affirmed that the House will be welcoming people from all nations.
