Beijing, 30 April 2023 (TDI): At the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, envoys from 14 countries, including Pakistan, Brazil, Indonesia, and Myanmar, visited northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from April 24th to April 28th.

Being stationed in different cities across China, the consul generals of 14 countries visited Urumqi, Kashgar, Turpan and other locations in Xinjiang to personally witness the social and economic development of the region.

After the visit, they praised Xinjiang’s accomplishments and noted that the ethnic groups of the region live harmoniously there.

He said, “A country needs social stability and economic development, and both are well-reflected in Kashgar.”

A few years ago, Turkish consul general Mehmet Mert Tokman also praised the region during his visit to Xinjiang. He said that the region’s extraordinary infrastructure development achievements are evidence of its rich heritage and significant progress and transformation over time.

Xinjiang boasts a treasure trove of ethnic cultures. People of all ethnic groups are able to uphold their cultural practices and live together in harmony.

An Indonesian consul general in GuangzhouBen Perkasa Drajat, admired the religious freedom in the region after visiting the Id Kah Mosque in Kashgar and the Xinjiang Islamic Institute.

He observed that Muslims in Xinjiang have the freedom to attend the mosque for prayer. “The Western claims that the Chinese government prohibits Muslims from engaging in religious practices are false,” he added.
