Mansehra, 13 September 2021 (TDI): The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Culture Organization (UNESCO) organized the “Enrollment Festival” on Saturday. The purpose of this festival was to promote Girls’ enrollment in the educational institutions of the KPK province of Pakistan, including Kohistan, a marginalized area.
Education is a crucial and fundamental right of every human, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the place where girls’ education is not taken as a priority. Although it is stated in the constitutional rights book that basic education is a constitutional right. However, the conventional mindset remains unchanged. In this regard, UNESCO is running a campaign on sensitizing the parents of girls for their enrollment in schools.
According to the official tweet of UNESCO Islamabad, they are continuing the campaign of sensitizing the parents of children who do not enroll their female children in the schools. Further, it is also stated that they are working with the government of Pakistan, and provincial governments to enroll & retain mostly those areas which are marginalized, regarding primary and lower secondary schools.
