Peshawar (TDI): The Embassy of Romania in Pakistan organized the “Peshawar Annual Ambassadorial Retreat – Romania‑EU+”, over the weekend, October 4-5, 2025.
The retreat was aimed at reinforcing diplomatic ties, fostering cultural exchange, and promoting a spirit of cooperation among European Union member ambassadors and non‑EU heads of mission in Pakistan.
The two day retreat was organized with the support of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and provided a relaxed setting for participants to engage in open dialogue on regional and global issues.

In a post on social media app X, Romania’s ambassador to Pakistan, Dan Stoenescu, emphasized the value of camaraderie, comparing the gathering to “a wonderful occasion to strengthen dialogue and friendship” under the “Romania‑EU+” rubric.
The two‑day event was marked not only by formal discussions but also by an immersion into Peshawar’s rich cultural heritage.
Delegates explored the city’s centuries‑old architecture, bustling bazaars and experienced the warmth of Pashtun hospitality.
The setting at the Peshawar Barracks Heritage Hotel further enhanced the ambiance, offering a venue steeped in history and local flavor.

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, also made an appearance and interacted with the delegates gathered in Peshawar.
Ambassador Stoenescu also praised the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Peshawar for generous support in making the event happen, as well as the Barracks Heritage Hotel for hosting the event in what he called a “charming and atmospheric venue.”
“It was truly an inspiring and memorable weekend of diplomacy, culture, and friendship,” the ambassador said.
