LAHORE (TDI): Electric buses are set to begin operations in five major cities of Punjab, including Lahore, as the government moves toward completing the purchase process.
According to officials, the acquisition of the buses is in its final stages, with plans also underway for the construction of Pakistan’s first and largest state-of-the-art Green Bus Depot in Lahore.
Additionally, the establishment of a modern “Vehicle Testing Laboratory” in Punjab is in its final phases, with work progressing rapidly.

Earlier last month, the Punjab Assembly was informed that a fleet of 680 environmentally friendly electric buses would be launched in the province, at an estimated cost of Rs40 billion.
Punjab’s Transport Minister, Bilal Akbar Khan, also announced the introduction of Pink Buses, designed specifically to serve the women of the province.

The electric buses will be distributed across various cities, with 300 buses designated for Lahore, 100 for Multan, 110 for Faisalabad, and 42 for Bahawalpur.
