San Salvador, 19 July 2022 (TDI): El Salvador conveyed its condemnation of the Mass-Shooting that occurred in a mall in the United States’ City of Greenwood, Indiana.

Casualties have been reported after the incident. El Salvador further extended its solidarity with the families of the affected. The message was shared by the official Twitter account of the Foreign Ministry of El Salvador.

Greenwood Mass Shooting in Mall

Around 6 o’clock on Sunday, a Mass-Shooting spree supposedly happened at the Greenwood Park Mall. Many complaints were reported about an active shooter on 911.

Moreover, the shooting left three people dead whereas two others were hurt. Indiana is located about fifteen miles south of Greenwood.

“The gunman was identified as Jonathan Douglas Sapirman, 20, who prepared for the shooting for a little over an hour in a bathroom before he emerged with a rifle” Greenwood Police Chief James Ison reported.

“Sapirman, the gunman, had two rifles, a Glock pistol, and more than 100 rounds of ammunition with him at the time of the shooting, but only used an AR 15-style rifle,” said Ison.

Furthermore, the victims being killed and left injured were identified to be from the same family. Pedro Pineda was 56 years old and Rosa Mirian Rivera de Pineda was 37 years old. Other victims included Victor Gomez aged 30 years who also belonged to Indiana.

Adding to that, a twenty-two-year-old woman was shot in the leg as the shooter continued firing. A bullet fragment that hit a twelve-year-old girl, Bella went flying off of a wall.

According to the Greenwood Police Chief, the Greenwood Police Department had trained its officers for incidents like massive firings.
