Cairo, 11 June 2023 (TDI): Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister of Egypt, congratulated Hakan Fidan, the newly-appointed Foreign Minister of Turkey, in a phone call.
Hakan Fidan was appointed as the new Foreign Minister of Turkey on Tuesday by President Tayyib Erdogan.
Hakan Fidan was the head of Turkey’s intelligence Organization before he was appointed as the Foreign Minister of Turkey.
Expected Alliance
Sameh Shoukry expressed his will to continue improving the relations that were cut off about ten years ago.
Hakan Fidan thanked Sameh Shoukry and stressed the normalization of the relationship between both countries.
Hakan Fidan also talked about the cooperation between the countries and solving mutual issues in the region.
Both discussed increasing cooperation, organizing future diplomatic visits officially, and engaging in a more productive alliance.
This phone call can be a path to a new journey from which both countries can benefit.
Mevlut Cavusoglu, former Turkish Foreign Minister, visited Egypt to normalize ties between Egypt and Turkey.

The visit was made after Sameh Shoukry visited Turkey to pay his condolences after the deadly earthquakes.
Both countries have also agreed to exchange ambassadors to fasten the normalization process.
Start of a New Journey
At the football World Cup, President Abdel Fattah and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan both shook hands in Qatar.
After the victory of President Tayyib Erdogan in the elections, President Al-Sisi also congratulated him on a phone call.
After the re-election in May, Erdogan, and Al-Sisi both showed a strong commitment to restore bilateral relations.
Both agreed on the significance of the restoration of their historic ties and to maintain peace in the region.
They revealed that they wish to get involved in global issues such as Palestine, Sudan, and Yemen and to draw up a solution.
Slowly both sides are decreasing the gaps between their countries and are working to improve the bilateral relation.
