Cairo, 1 September 2021(TDI): South Korean Defense Minister Suh Wook met with his Egyptian counterpart, Mohamed Ahmed Zaki. Suh is the first to visit the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries.
The meeting covered recent regional and international developments, as well as a number of issues of mutual concern, such as military cooperation and industry knowledge exchange. During the visit, both Ministers agreed to increase defense industry cooperation and exchange exports.
Zaki conveyed Egypt’s gratitude for its long-standing relationship with South Korea. Also, he expressed his desire to coordinate efforts and strengthen military ties between the two countries. On his part, the South Korean Defense Minister expressed the desire to expand cooperative relations in the future in a way that benefits both countries.
According to the ministry, Suh stated during the talks that South Korea’s defense industry could help Egypt modernize its military.
