Lahore (TDI): A delegation of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), led by the Secretary General of ECO, Retired Asad Majeed Khan, is visiting Lahore for two days.
The delegation received a very warm welcome on their arrival at the airport, on Sunday. After Lahore’s nomination for the ECO Tourism Capital 2027, the purpose of this visit is city site-seeing and a cultural experience in Lahore.
More than twenty five ambassadors and representatives are part of the delegation that visited the most-famous historical sites in the city, in a guided tour.
The delegation also experienced the city’s night life and sat down to dine-in at Haveli Restaurant. The members of the delegation were mesmerized by the night views of Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, and Minar e Pakistan.
During the day, they went to Shalimar Gardens, Delhi Gate, Wazir Khan Masjid, Shahi Hammam, Iqbal Baithak, and Tang Gali, among other places.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz met the delegates later at the Civil Secretariat and expressed her great love for the city: “I love Lahore, a city rich in both ancient and modern culture.”
She told the delegates that cultural revival of the city is a passion project and her administration is directly overseeing it, day in and day out.
“The fragrance of civilisation lingers in Lahore’s alleys. Its archaeological treasures testify to its glorious past. The people of Lahore are embodiments of love and hospitality, and their warmth is unmatched,” she added.

The delegation was also taken to the Headquarters Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA). In the tour, they were informed about the various initiatives under the PSCA, including Emergency Helpline 15, Facial Recognition System, Pakistan’s first Virtual Women Police Station, the Child Protection Centre, and the Virtual Blood Bank.
The delegation appreciated the use of technology for public safety, and thanked the administration for a chance to visit the state-of-the-art Command and Control room at the Headquarters.
